The honorary citizenship is the highest honor that the city parishes awarded to. It is used to honor personalities for special merits in outstanding, loyal and fruitful work for the good of the city.

Honorary citizens are invited to representative events in the city. In the event of an economic emergency through no fault of one's own, the city council can approve a one-off or ongoing honorary salary. The amount is at the discretion of the city council. In addition to honorary citizenship, the city awards a golden ring of honor, a plaque of honor and a badge of honor.
