The honorary citizenship is the highest municipal award the town of Rangsdorf . Since 1949, six people have been made honorary citizens.

The honorary citizens of the Rangsdorf community

  1. Georg Rapp (1869–1953)
    former head of office
    Awarded on April 28, 1949
    From 1919 to 1933, Rapp was head of the office and registrar for Rangsdorf, Groß Machnow, Dahlewitz and Telz. He was responsible for police matters and construction police matters. On the occasion of his 80th birthday, he was made the first honorary citizen of the Rangsdorf community.
  2. Johannes Gehlsdorf (born January 20, 1927 - March 24, 1993)

    Gehlsdorf was mayor of the municipality between 1965 and 1982.
  3. Jean Weidt (* 1904 - 29 August 1988)
    Antifascist, dancer and choreographer
    “The red dancer” revolutionized the entire dance scene in France in the 1930s. Artistic ties to Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Marlene Dietrich, Gustaf Grüntgens a. v. a. m. After returning from emigration in 1947 (at the invitation of Wilhelm Pieck) founded the “Young Dancer Group” at the Volksbühne zu Berlin, inventor of the “Störtebeker Festival” on Rügen together with the composer Hanns Eisler, choreographer in Schwerin, Chemnitz and Berlin. Tours through over 30 countries. From 1966 appointment at the Komische Oper zu Berlin under Walter Felsenstein. Establishment of Europe's most successful ballet company, the dance theater ensemble of the Komische Oper under the direction of Tom Schilling. Married to the painter and graphic artist Ursula Wendorff-Weidt. Son Andreas Weidt runs a ceramics workshop in Werben.
  4. Walter Warnecke (* 1907)

    Warnecke was mayor of Rangsdorf from January 1946 to October 1946. In July 1945, after the SPD was re-admitted, he was the new founder of the SPD local association. In the Teltow district Warnecke belonged to the first district executive of the SPD, the requirement was the SMAD order No. 2 of June 10, 1945 on the approval of anti-fascist parties and free trade unions. Warnecke was co-founder and chairman (with Friedrich Alt / KPD) of the 1st local group of the SED after the union of the SPD and KPD on February 28, 1946 in Rangsdorf in the Landhaus-Lichtspiele.
  5. Erwin Benke (1925-2002)

    Awarded on September 21, 1995
    Benke was a teacher in Rangsdorf from 1948. He was a successful women's handball trainer and manager, and handed over his coaching position to Horst Gnida. He is the father of the oldest international women's tournament in Rangsdorf and has received numerous awards, including: 1961 Honored Master of Sports, 1975 Pestalozzi Medal in gold, 1999 Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon, honorary member of the board of SV Lokomotive Rangsdorf , badge of honor of the Brandenburg Handball Association in gold. The gym in Fichtestrasse, inaugurated on October 7, 1981, was named "Erwin-Benke-Sporthalle" after 2002.
  6. Lothar Frenzel (* 1939)

    He was made an honorary citizen in recognition of his many years of service in promoting community and club life. Frenzel is a member of the mixed choir Rangsdorf and was founder of the GCR Carnival in 1975 and chairman of the GCR between 2001 and 2005. As the president of the carnival club, he dressed in clown costumes and mocked as a banter, accordion and keyboard player, hand-made speaker, humorous and quick-witted. It spread happiness and made people think. Together with Dieter Hannemann he was a member of the Duo-Vagant (keyboard, accordion and drums) and for almost 25 years played various events for family and dance.
