Charlotte Rhodes in Amsterdam, October 12, 1979

The Charlotte Rhodes was a three-masted topsail schooner , which became internationally known through its participation in the successful BBC TV series " The Onedin Line ".

history

The ship was built in Fjelleborn ( Denmark ) in 1904 and was a cargo sailor for many years. At the end of the 1960s it was unused and run down in a Danish port. It was discovered and restored by a retired British flight captain. From 1971 the BBC chartered the ship for the filming of the Onedin Line. Here she was easily recognized by her black hull and red sails. On October 12, 1979, the Charlotte Rhodes was destroyed by arson in the port of Amsterdam .
