List of governors of the German colony of Cameroon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cameroon was a German colony from 1884 until the First World War . The administration was headed by a governor and, in contrast to the colonies of German East Africa and German South West Africa , was always in the hands of civil servants. The first head of the local central administration was the interim Imperial Commissioner Max Buchner from July 14, 1884 to May 17, 1885.

The number of governors was as follows:

During the First World War, Karl Ebermaier and most of the Schutztruppe transferred to neutral Spanish territory ( Rio Muni ) in February 1916 and led an internment administration in Madrid until 1919.

In the plans of the National Socialist colonial policy , Bernhard Ruberg was envisaged as governor of Cameroon. However, the course of the Second World War prevented him from taking office.
