List of Nagano Governors
This list shows the governors (initially partially gonrei , 権 令 , kenrei , Japanese. 県 令 , or sanji , 参事 , since 1886 continuously chiji , 知事 ) of the central Japanese prefecture (-ken) Nagano since 1871, without the governors of Nakano since 1870 - The prefecture was only renamed in 1871 with the move of the prefecture administration from the village of Nakano (since 1954 city of Nakano ) to the village of Nagano (since 1897 city of Nagano ). Not listed are the governors of the other precursor prefectures or the remaining principalities (- han ) in the area of today's Nagano in early Meiji period: Prefecture Ina , Chikuma Prefecture , principalities Tatsuoka , Iwamurada , Komoro , Ueda , Matsushiro , Suzaka , Iiyama .
As in all prefectures, the governor of Nagano has been directly elected by the people since 1947. In accordance with the provisions of the constitution and the self-government law on subnational self-government, he heads the prefectural administration including the functions delegated by the central government, has a right of initiative and a suspensive veto right for prefectural statutes (jōrei) , can (subordinate to the statutes that go back to the constitution ) Issue official ordinances (kisoku) , submit the draft budget and certain personnel nominations (such as deputy governors, members of the prefectural public security commission) to the prefectural parliament and represent the prefecture externally.
Remarks:
- In the interests of uniformity, the order of all Japanese names has been reversed, regardless of the other conventions of the German-language Wikipedia.
- The numbering of the terms of office follows the list published by the prefectural administration.
