This list of cities and towns in Slovakia is an overview of all cities and towns in Slovakia in alphabetical order:
On December 31, 2011 there were 2891 municipalities in Slovakia , these are divided into four following sub-articles, the respective Okres and Kraj are named, and the German and Hungarian names are noted, if available. From an administrative point of view, they are equivalent to LAU 2 .
The Slovak names officially exist since 1920, the German and Hungarian names were all used between 1773 and 1948 / today.
Note: The sub-articles are currently being successively revised; in the case of old entries, the German and Hungarian names listed here can, to a large extent, be artificial modern derivatives from medieval forms, literal translations of Slovak and Hungarian names (and possibly even wrong). For the forms still in use between the 18th and 20th centuries, please still use the list of German names of Slovak places or the respective Okres page !
