List of neighborhoods in Bunkyō district of Tokyo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list of the districts of the Tokyo district Bunkyō enumerates all districts in the area of the district Bunkyō ( Bunkyō-ku ) of the Tokyo prefecture ( Tōkyō-to ) in the northern center of Tokyo . Only the clearly delimited areas are listed, as they are also used for postal addresses in Japan , but not the numerous former districts or place names that are still used as place names in individual cases.

Many districts consist of several numbered quarters ( 丁目 , chōme ), which usually span several blocks. The numbers of the chôme are listed after the name, if applicable.

In some Tokyo districts, several districts are combined into one larger area ( chiiki , chiku or similar). For historical reasons, two areas can be distinguished in Bunkyō: The two areas Koishikawa and Hongō correspond to the two districts of the same name (ku) Koishikawa and Hongō of the former city of Tokyo ( Tōkyō-shi ) that existed until 1947 , through the merger of which the district Bunkyō was created.

The initial order follows that used by the Bunkyō council. It groups the districts according to the two former districts (Hakusan spans the former district boundary) and roughly corresponds to a geographical arrangement that begins on the Kanda River in the southeast of the district.
