Lithuanian Constitution of 1938

The Lithuanian Constitution of February 11, 1938 was one of several constitutions of Lithuania in the interwar period .

They were enacted by state organs of the first Republic of Lithuania in the 20th century . A distinction is made between the constitutions of the interwar period and the constitution after the regaining of independence.

The constitution reflected the dictatorial leadership of Antanas Smetona and contains authoritarian elements.

Preamble :

The Lithuanian nation, in dignified memory of the glorious old Lithuania, has again established an independent and sovereign Lithuanian state and is defending this memory of its ancestors with the help of its armed forces and in its unwavering will to protect it for centuries, its glorious tradition, the To secure the prosperity and power of the country against both present and future nations.
Taking into account the experiences of the Lithuanian nation through its history and the past of its state, from its rebirth and the struggle for freedom to the restoration and durability of the resurrected Lithuanian state, Lithuania is granted the following constitution.
