Little White Schoolhouse
The Little White Schoolhouse , also called Republican Schoolhouse , is a building in Ripon , Wisconsin , in the United States .
In the former schoolhouse built in 1853, the Republican Party of the United States was founded in 1854 . The Little White Schoolhouse was therefore classified by the United States Department of the Interior as "the site of an important event in American history" as particularly important and in August 1973 it was registered as a building on the National Register of Historic Places . It was designated a National Historic Landmark in May 1974 and is one of 43 such historic sites in Wisconsin.
