Liu Xihong

Liu Xihong (* in Guangdong ; † unknown) was the first envoy of the Chinese Empire to the German Empire .

Liu Xihong was a court clerk in Guangdong, China, who took part in the Opium Wars . First he was placed as an attaché to the Chinese envoy in Great Britain ( Guo Songtao ) in 1876 . One of his tasks was to monitor the behavior of Guo Songtao, some of which was critical of the regime. At the end of 1877, Liu Xihong was sent as the first envoy to Berlin, but was recalled after nine months.
