Liudas Mažylis (born May 19, 1954 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian political scientist, professor and former Christian conservative politician .

Life

After graduating from secondary school in Kaunas in 1972, Liudas Mažylis completed a diploma in chemistry at the Vilniaus universitetas in Vilnius in 1977 . From 1977 to 1990 he worked at the cardiology institute. In 1985 Mažylis received his doctorate in chemistry on the synthesis and properties of substituted indoline and benzidoline derivatives (on the subject of "Indoline-2-ono ir benzindolin-2-onų 3-pakeistų darinių sintezė ir savybės").

From 1990 to 1992 Mažylis was a member of the Sąjūdis Seima. From 1990 to 1995 he was councilor of the municipality of Kaunas . From 1990 to 1993 Mažylis was the deputy editor-in-chief of the Sąjūdis daily newspaper "Kauno laikas". He has had publications with "Kauno aidas", " Lietuvos aidas ", "Tėvynės sargas", "Apžvalga", "Savivaldybių žinios", " Veidas " etc. Since 1997 he has been a lecturer, since 2000 as a lecturer and since 2008 as a professor the Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas .

Mažylis became known to the public as a history researcher in particular when he found the original of Lithuania's declaration of independence in the Political Archive of the Foreign Office in Berlin at the end of March 2017 .

Mažylis was a member of the Christian party Lietuvos krikščionys demokratai from 1995 . He has been a member of Tėvynės Sąjunga since 2008 .

Mažylis is married and has one daughter.
