The Liverpool Beach ( Bulgarian Ливърпулски бряг Liwarpulski Brjag ) is a 1.8 km long and crescent-shaped beach on the south coast of Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . On the east bank of Walker Bay, it lies east of Hannah Point , southwest of Ustra Peak and south of the mouth of the Werila Glacier . It is one of the most frequently visited places in Antarctica by cruise ships .
British mappings were made in 1821, 1962 and 1968, Argentine in 1959 and 1980, Chilean in 1971, Spanish in 1991 and Bulgarian in 2005 and 2009. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2010 after the British city of Liverpool , home of numerous sealers who worked in the 19th century operated in the waters around the South Shetland Islands.
