Liza Cody (actually Liza Nassim ; born April 11, 1944 in London ) is an English crime writer.

Liza Nassim grew up in London. After studying art at the London Art School and the Royal Academy of Arts , she was mainly active as an artist, for example as a photographer and painter. Among other things, she restored wax figures at Madame Tussauds .

In 1980 she wrote her first crime thriller under the pseudonym Liza Cody with the main character Anna Lee, an ex-police officer who works for a London detective agency. For this she received the John Creasey Memorial Award of the British Crime Writers' Association for the best crime debut of the year in Great Britain. In 1992 and 1993, the six novels in the series were filmed and ran as a television series under the title Anna Lee with Imogen Stubbs in the lead role on British television.

She then wrote another series about the detective Eva Wylie . The model for this figure was the professional wrestler Klondike Kate . Unlike the many smart middle-class detectives of the 1980s and 1990s, Wylie is one of the underdog detectives. In addition to her appearances as a wrestler, she guards a junkyard and lives in a trailer.

Liza Cody lives and works in Bath in the south west of England.
