Lochranza ( Scottish Gaelic Loch Raonasa ) is a place in Scotland on the island of Arran . It is the northernmost town on the island and is part of the North Ayrshire Council Area .

Lochranza is located on the Firth of Clyde on the north side of the island of Arran .

Lochranza is located on the ring road that runs completely around the island and has a small ferry port from which you can get to the mainland and the Kintyre peninsula . A new pier was built in 2003 so that larger ships can easily access. Regular users of the pier are the paddle steamers Waverley and Lord of the Glens , a small cruise ship.

The ruins of Lochranza Castle , which are a striking landmark of Lochranza, stand on a small headland .
In the village there is a whiskey distillery , a large campsite , a butcher and a hotel with a pub and restaurant. The only shop in Lochranza is the campsite shop with a smaller selection of groceries and small items.
