Decoy call
Lure calls or ping calls are calls in which connections are usually established to mobile phone connections that are specifically terminated after a single ring. The one-time ringing is sufficient to transmit a callback number (for a high-priced value-added service ); this is shown in the mobile phone display under missed calls . Out of politeness or curiosity, the person who has been called in this way often feels tempted to call the supposed caller back and thus makes a costly phone call. Many decoy callback numbers begin with the sequence 0137 .
The actual number can also be masked by a prefix .
If free 0800 numbers are displayed, this is usually a variant of collect call fraud .
The Federal Network Agency offers a complaint form for reporting lure call numbers. After checking, the Federal Network Agency can take measures to ban invoicing and collection.
