Loen is a village in the municipality of Stryn in the Norwegian province of Vestland .

It is located on Lobukta Bay , at the eastern end of the Innvikfjord , into which the Loelva flows from the east . To the northwest of the village rises the mountain Hoven , to which there is a cable car connection. To the east is Lake Lovatnet . Fylkesvei 60 leads through Loen, where Fylkesvei 723 meets here from the east .

In the eastern part of the village is the listed church of Loen . The traditional Hotel Alexandra , founded in 1884, is also in the village.

In 1905 and 1936 there were severe landslides with large tidal waves in the Loen area, which killed many people. 1990 World Archery Championships were held in Loen .

Personalities

The writer Olav Loen (1903–1984) was born in Loen.
