Login manager

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A login manager is a login system for Unix and Unix-like operating systems . It includes a daemon for login (login), a user interface for login and a system for tracking login sessions . When a user tries to log in, the Login Manager mediates between them and an authentication system .

Since the X Display Manager also offers a graphical user interface when logging in , a distinction is no longer made between a Display Manager (administration of the desktop environment ) and the Login Manager (administration of the login).

Systemd has a built-in login manager called logind .
