Logophoron with evangelist

A logophoron (from ancient Greek λόγος logos 'word' and φέρειν phérein 'carry') is a special place to keep the Bible or the Evangelistary . This is to emphasize the importance of the word of God in worship . Often this is a kind of lectern.

In contrast to the ambo or the pulpit , the logophoron neither preaches nor interprets the Holy Scriptures .
