Lokot (unit)

Lokot was a Russian measure of length and means elbow, the cubit . The measure, already known since about the 11th / 12th. Century, corresponding to two pjadi and was replaced by arshin replaced (arsine) at about the mid-16th century. At that time the measure was between 45.5 and 47.5 centimeters long . The cubit is said to have been 22.677 inches long, which corresponds to about 57.599 centimeters and corresponds to the Polish cubit ( Łokieć ).

The above measure of pjad corresponded to the distance between the extended index finger and the thumb. According to an ordinance of January 3, 1843, the measure should have this size from January 1, 1845: Pjad or Četvert was 1/4 Aršin = 0.1778 meters long, which results in a cubit length of 0.7112 meters.
