International Federation of Catholic Agricultural Workers' Movements

The International Federation of Catholic Agricultural Workers ( en . : International Federation of Rural Adault Catholic Movements ; fr . : Fédération Internationale des Mouvements d'Aultes Ruraux Catholiques , official abbreviation: FIMARC ) is an association of believers in the Roman Catholic Church . It was founded in Fátima ( Portugal ) in 1964 and recognized by the Holy See as an international Catholic association under papal law. The NGO is a consultant in the UNESCO of the ECOSOC and the euro Europe represented, it has an observer status at the FAO , she has been working at the UNHCR and the World Committee on Food Security (CFS).

history

On the initiative of Catholic rural people's movements, the desire arose in Fatima in 1964 to join together under one umbrella organization . The aim was international cooperation and the exchange of experiences. From May 16 to 31, 2014, the World Assembly was held on the Volkersberg , in Würzburg and in Regensburg . At the same time it was the anniversary meeting for the 50th anniversary, on this occasion a final resolution was passed.

Organization and expansion

The Executive Committee and the Presidium are elected at the four-year general assembly , which consists of delegates from the member organizations and associated associations. The Presidium (2014–2018) includes the President (Wolfgang Scharl, Germany ), the General Secretary (Georg Dixon Fernández, India ), the Treasurer (Jean-Claude Germon, France ) and the Church Assistant (Father Pascal Kinoti, Paraguay ). The association is divided into the provinces of Africa, Asia, America and Europe, each of which is led by a coordinator who is a member of the executive committee. The provinces are divided into regions :

FIMARC includes 60 associated organizations and cooperating institutions from 33 countries. From Germany, the Catholic rural people movement is an associated member. The head office is in Assesse ( Belgium ). The publications include the “tuners of the rural world” (fr .: Voix du monde rural), the letters to the coordinators and the letters to the movements. These quarterly publications appear in French, English and Spanish.
