The Long Beach ( English for long beach ) is a rocky beach on the south side of the island Heard in the group of Heard Island and McDonald Islands in the Indian Ocean . It is located immediately east of Cape Labuan .
The name of the beach was first recorded on a map from 1860 by the American seal hunter H. C. Chester, who was operating in the waters around Heard Island at the time. Since shelters for seal hunters already existed on this beach at that time, its discovery goes back to an earlier point in time.
