Long Life (Engl. Sustainable, energy efficient residential buildings in regard to European requirements and innovative technologies in the Baltic Sea Region ) standards for sustainable construction in the Baltic Sea Region is a transnational project in the Baltic region. It is financed through the EU program Baltic Sea Region 2007–2013. It contributes to the EU 2020 strategy to reduce energy consumption in Europe.

Longlife project

Longlife develops standards for sustainable, energy-efficient building in the Baltic Sea region and tries to harmonize the different building technologies, sustainability standards and procedures for planning, building permits, tendering and financing and to make them more competitive in the Baltic Sea region.

Partners from Denmark , Lithuania , Poland , Russia and Germany are working together in the Longlife project . Lead partner is the TU Berlin , department of structural design and construction, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Rückert. The standards and benchmarks developed are minimum requirements for a sustainable building and consider the ecological, economic and social aspects in the life cycle. The longlife prototype, a catalog of materials, elements and key technologies for energy efficiency and renewable energies that meet the minimum longlife requirements, e.g. B. the final energy consumption of 40 kWh / m² year. With pilot projects, Longlife wants to prove that it is worthwhile to invest more in integrated planning in order to minimize the energy consumption and operating costs of a building in the life cycle.

At the end of the planning process, the building is certified with measurable data and the Longlife Performance Pass is issued. The practical solutions and innovative technologies can also be transferred to other building types. Together with seven other projects, Longlife is developing a compendium in 2012 that shows the potential and synergies of an energy cluster.

To continue the previous work of the project, the Longlife Institute eV was founded in September 2011.
