Lorcan George Sherlock

Lorcan George Sherlock (* 1874 in Dublin ; † December 1945 there ) was Lord Mayor of Dublin .

Lorcan Sherlock was born one of four sons to Thomas Sherlock, a journalist and a member of Dublin City Council. Two of his brothers, Thomas and John, later became journalists like their father. The third, Gerald, became Dublin's first City Manager .

Like his father, Lorcan Sherlock later became a member of Dublin City Council. As such, he held the office of Lord Mayor of the city three times from February 23, 1912 to February 1915. He died in December 1945 at the age of 71.

In his youth, Sherlock was an avid cricketer. In later years he turned to golf . The Lorcan Sherlock Cup , which has been awarded since 1934, is named after him.

Sherlock was married several times.
