Baron Byron , of Rochdale in the County Palatine of Lancaster , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of England .

Today the barons' family residence is Bartley Close in Bartley near Southampton in Hampshire .

Award

The title was created on October 24, 1643 for the Royalist Civil War general and longtime MP, Sir John Byron .

Since he was childless, the award was made with the special note that his six brothers and their male descendants should also be entitled to inherit the title.
