Lorenz Kropfitsch

Lorenz Kropfitsch is an Arabist and lexicographer .

He received his doctorate in 1972 from the University of Graz and is a research assistant and lecturer at the Department of Translation, Linguistics and Cultural Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz , as well as the author and collaborator of numerous reference works on the Arabic language. He played a major role in the revision of Hans Wehr 's Arabic dictionary for the contemporary written language: Arabic-German , which is regarded as the standard work of oriental studies .
