Lorenz von Schönberg

Lorenz von Schönberg , currently also Lorentz von Schönberg , (* 1532 or 1535 ; † May 20, 1588 in Karlsbad , Kingdom of Bohemia ) was an electoral Saxon chief miner and manor owner .

Life

Lorenz von Schönberg came from the Saxon noble family von Schönberg and was the son of the knight Caspar von Schönberg (1504–1562) and his wife Anna.

In 1577 he was appointed miner in Freiberg at the court of Elector August of Saxony. In 1584 he was appointed chief miner. Already four years later Lorenz von Schönberg died in the Bohemian Karlsbad and Heinrich von Schönberg succeeded him as mining captain.

He was heir, feudal lord and court lord on Oberreinsberg near Freiberg and died during a spa stay in the Bohemian Karlsbad. After his transfer to the Electorate of Saxony , his body was buried in Reinsberg on May 24, 1588.

His daughter Anna of the same name, who emerged from her marriage with Agnes von Schönberg, married Caspar von Schönberg auf Purschenstein in 1581 . She also inherited her parents' house in Freiberg, which was right next to the Petrikirche there.

Lorenz von Schönberg carried the following coat of arms: In gold, a lion divided by red and green . On the helmet with red and gold covers a red lion's trunk.
