Lorenzo Ricciardi

Lorenzo Ricciardi (* 1930 in Milan ) is an Italian documentary filmmaker and author.

Life

Ricciardi lived an adventurous life after a troubled youth (among other things he was born in prison and his family's house burned down), in which he invested the money won playing roulette in a boat with which he sailed off African waters.

Ricciardi made a few documentaries about Africa, but was also involved in some works with fictional plot in exotic locations between 1959 and 1974. So he wrote u. a. on the script for Le orientali by Siro Marcellini and was assistant director to Gian Luigi Polidoros Le svedesi . In 1961 he directed the self-written Venere creola .

Ricciardi married the photographer Mirella Ricciardi in 1956 , who also took over the photographic management of his 1956 film in East Africa and with whom he published several books. The marriage had two daughters. The couple live in London and Italy .
