Los Padres National Forest

The Los Padres National Forest is a National Forest in California ( IUCN Category VI). Like all national forests in the United States, it is used for the management and forestry use of federally owned forests.

Los Padres covers around 7700 square kilometers in the (up to 2697 meter high) California coastal mountains between Ventura and Monterey .

The forest area was designated in December 1936 and is administered by the US Forest Service .

Large parts of the Los Padres National Forest are designated as Ventana Wilderness and Silver Peak Wilderness , two wilderness areas and thus areas of the strictest nature conservation class in the USA.
