Peter Llewelyn Roberts is an Australian diplomat.

Career

Until 2018, Roberts was Assistant Secretary of the North Asia Goods Branch in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Prior to that, he was chief negotiator for the Japan-Australian Free Trade Agreement, the Sino-Australian Free Trade Agreement and the Korean-Australian Free Trade Agreement. It was also Roberts Director of Japan of Foreign Affairs and Trade and has worked as a political adviser in the Australian Embassy in Tokyo , as Second Secretary in the Australian High Commission in Apia ( Samoa ) and Senior Civilian Monitor the Peace Monitoring Group in Bougainville ( Papua New Guinea ).

On January 4, 2018, Roberts was appointed the new Australian Ambassador to East Timor . Roberts handed over his accreditation on February 22, 2018, replacing Peter Doyle .

Roberts holds a BA in Asian Studies from the Australian National University and Tōhoku University . He also received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Australian National University .
