Lotte Chemical (Korean 롯데 케미칼 ) is a South Korean chemical company. It was created in 2013 when KP Chemical and Honam Petrochemical , both subsidiaries of the Japanese-Korean conglomerate Lotte , merged. Lotte Chemical is a leader in the production of terephthalic acid and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and has plants in Yeosu , Daesan and Ulsan . In 2016, the PET products were transferred to the newly founded subcontractor LOTTE ADVANCED MATERIALS. In May 2016 LOTTE Chemicals bought the chemical products division of Samsung SDI Chemicals, previously Samsung Chemicals and Samsung Cheil Industries. This made LOTTE Chemical the market leader in PET products in South Korea. At the same time, the company acquired the architectural products, the acrylic stone STARON and Tempest as well as the quartz stone Radianz.
