Louis-Henri Nicot

Louis-Henri Nicot (born February 12, 1878 in Rennes ; † July 12, 1944 ) was a French sculptor of Breton descent.

Life

He was the son of entrepreneur Henri Amédée Nicot and his wife Blanche Augustine Ardilouze. He was initially trained at the " École des Beaux-Arts " (art academy) in Rennes.

He was a professor at the University of Applied Arts in Paris and a gold medalist at the Salon des Artistes français .

From April 11 to October 15, 2005, a special exhibition was dedicated to Louis-Henri Nicot in the Musée de la Faïence porcelain museum in Quimper .

Works

As a sculptor, he made the sculptures on the justice building in Reims and the memorial for the dead of the Armée du Rhin in the main cemetery in Mainz . His works include:

  • La célèbre Annaïg Mam Goz du Faouët ,
  • numerous Breton ceramics on account of the faience maker Henriot from Quimper. underneath

He also made the busts of Admiral Guépratte and the writer Charles Le Goffic, as well as numerous French war memorials .
