Louis-Philippe Crépin
Louis-Philippe Crépin (* 1772 ; † 1851 ) was a French marine painter .
Life
Crépin received his artistic lessons from the painters Hubert Robert and Claude Joseph Vernet . Together with his colleague Théodore Gudin , Crépin was appointed the first Peintre Officiel de la Marine after the July Revolution of 1830 .
reception
One of Crépin's most important works - “Combat de la Bayonnaise versus l'Ambuscade, 1798” - can be seen today in the Musée national de la Marine ( Paris ).
