Louis Krause

Louis Ferdinand Adolf Karl Krause (born October 14, 1844 in Wittenberge ; † December 17, 1908 there ) was a German entrepreneur.

Life

In 1869, Louis Krause and his brother, the pharmacist Robert Krause, founded the Krause Gebr. Chemical Factory , which was renamed the Krause Brothers Grease Factory in 1883 . The company produced, among other things, lubricants , tar products and roofing felt . The products were awarded prizes at exhibitions and were sold both within Germany and exported to various countries.

After a dispute, Robert Krause left the company in 1884 and founded his own fat factory.

Around 1893 Louis Krause patented with Dr. J. Mayer the fractional distillation of wool fat .

From 1890–1899 he was a city ​​councilor , 1899–1908 honorary city ​​councilor in the magistrate and in 1898 city councilor. For more than ten years he was also a member of the district council of Westprignitz .

Louis Krause was married to Anna Agnes Berta Hermine Lösch and had six children. After his death, his son Georg and his sister Margarete Krause took over the management of the company.

On April 14, 1930, the Wittenberg magistrate decided to rename the former Wittstocker Strasse to Krausestrasse in his honor.
