Louis Sacchini

Louis Vincent Sacchini (born August 30, 1930 ) is an American clarinetist and music teacher.

Sacchini studied clarinet at Union University , the University of North Texas and the University of Iowa . His teachers were Theodore Ruta and Bernard Cerilli of the Pittsburgh Symphony , Gino Cioffi of the Boston Symphony, and Oscar Lee Gibson and Himie Voxman . He completed complementary studies at Duquesne University , the University of St. Louis , Illinois State University and Boston University and took flute lessons with George Morey , oboe lessons with Noah Knepper and bassoon lessons with Ronald Tire .

As a music teacher, Sacchini taught woodwind instruments, as well as music history and theory, conducting, music analysis and education, and improvisation. From 1978 to 1982 he was musical director and conductor of the Northern Plains Wind Symphony and from 1978 taught at the International Music Camp . He served as a juror at music festivals such as the Kinsman's International Band Festival and was a member of the board of the International Clarinet Society and the Saxophone Congress . Since his retirement in 1995 he has been teaching privately and is a member of the Dubuque Chamber Winds . Sacchini arranged musical works for wind ensemble and wrote a book on clarinet concerts of the 19th century.
