Louis Sosson (born before 1905; died after 1930) was a French sculptor and ivory carver who was artistically active from around 1905 to 1930. His exact dates of life are not known in the literature.

Life

Louis Sosson's date of birth and death are unknown. He lived in Paris' Rue Turenne 50 from 1914 to 1918. Based on the years in which he was artistically successful, his date of birth is placed between 1870 and 1880 and his date of death between 1930 and 1950. Most of his works date from the Art Deco period , but earlier ones also from the Art Nouveau period . Primarily he made chryselephantine statuettes from ivory and bronze of young, beautiful women, often as nudes. Other subjects included a skier (with skis on her back) and figures in Dutch clothes. His work was often implemented by hand by the Edmond Etling fine art foundry .
