Lourdes Flores
Lourdes Celmira Flores Nano (born October 7, 1959 in Lima ) is a Peruvian lawyer and politician.
At the age of 18 she joined the Christian Democratic Partido Popular Cristiano (PPC, Christian People's Party), of which she is now chairman. Flores studied law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú in Lima from 1977 to 1982 . From 1983 to 1984 she studied at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid . There she graduated as a Master en asesoria juridica de empresas (management consultancy in legal matters). Between 1984 and 1989 she was a lecturer at both the Pontificia Católica del Perú and the Universidad de Lima.
She has been a member of the Peruvian Congress since 1990.
In the presidential election on April 9, 2006 , she ran for the center-right alliance National Unity ( Unidad Nacional ) to succeed Alejandro Toledo . However, she could not prevail and only came in third place.
