The Lourdes Chapel is a cemetery chapel in the Merazhofen cemetery , a district of Gebrazhofen in Leutkirch im Allgäu .

description

The chapel is located in the immediate vicinity of the grave of the former pastor of Merazhofen Augustinus Hieber , on Pfarrer-Hieber-Weg. It was built in the second half of the 19th century. The cemetery is surrounded by a wall all around. The east-facing rectangular building has a beaver-tail-covered gable roof with the front sides facing south and north and no bells. Above the lavishly designed, south-facing wooden entrance portal, it reads : “I am the resurrection and the life.” (Jn 11:25, 26) Above is a fresco depicting the risen Jesus Christ .

The structure of the Lourdes grotto inside the chapel from roots and pieces of wood is similar to the construction of nativity scenes. There is also a place to kneel in the chapel.

A book of concerns is available in the chapel ; There, visitors can note their thanks, needs and worries in writing.
