It is dedicated to Our Lady in Lourdes and belongs to the parish church of St. Georg and thus to the dean's office in Bregenz in the diocese of Feldkirch . The feast day of Our Lady in Lourdes is February 11th.

The structure ( 408  m above sea level ) was rebuilt around 1900 and is about 500 meters as the crow flies from the village center of Lauterach.

history

As the only chapel in the Lauterach market town , it was built around 1900, financed by foundations.

Church building

The chapel is in the lower part of the Lauterach community. It is a building with an approximately rectangular floor plan in a north-west / south-east orientation. In the southeast is the arched apse with the altar.

The simple copper-clad entrance door is in the northwest. There are indicated pilasters on the corners of the building and in the middle of the long sides . The square roof turret with the bell on the gable roof is in the southeast. The gable roof is covered with plain tiles, the bell ridge is covered with copper. On the bell ridge there is an unusual cross that resembles a weather vane .

The prayer room and the chancel are structurally separated from each other by a low grid. The interior is characterized by a flat barrel vault. On the long sides of the facade there are two large arched windows that illuminate the interior well.

Furnishing

The pews are made of light fir wood and are kept simple. They offer space for around 30 people. The chapel has an imposing high altar in the form of a stylized grotto with the statue of Our Lady in Lourdes . On the left is a statue of Bernadette Soubirous in a humble, adoring posture. On the right, on a table next to it, is a figure of Jesus .

The floor is laid out with beige - gray and dark gray tiles , which are laid in a diamond shape so that a path on dark gray tiles to the grotto is created from the entrance door.
