Louville is an impact crater in the northwest of the front of the moon , on the eastern edge of Oceanus Procellarum . The crater is very heavily eroded and the crater wall is almost completely leveled and covered by smaller craters, so that it is very difficult to make out in the surrounding uneven terrain.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the French astronomer and mathematician Jacques d'Allonville , Chevalier de Louville.
