Lovelock Correctional Center

The Lovelock Correctional Center is a state prison in the US state of Nevada in Pershing County , near Lovelock .

history

Lovelock is located in Pershing County and is one of seven institutions of the Nevada Department of Corrections . It was built in two phases and opened in two phases. The first phase was completed in August 1995. At that time, two blocks with 168 cells were opened. Each cell was intended for two inmates. The construction of the second phase provided two 168 cell units and two 84 cell units. The LCC currently has a total capacity of 1,680 offenders. It has an industrial facility that makes mattresses and fabrics.

The prison gained notoriety in 2008 when former football star OJ Simpson started his sentence here. Another prominent prisoner was the boxer Ike Ibeabuchi , who was incarcerated in Lovelock until February 28, 2014 for raping a striptease dancer.
