Lovica from Pröpper

Lovica von Pröpper , actually Ludovica von Pröpper (* 1810 , † 1898 ) was a German cookbook author.

life and work

Ludovica von Pröpper was the daughter of Baron Joseph von Pröpper , the first Prussian district administrator in the Grevenbroich district and owner of Hülchrath Castle .

She emerged mainly as an author of cookbooks; Numerous recipe collections and special cookbooks originate from her pen. The cookbooks, some of which have survived to this day and are kept in the Neuss district archive, are also important as a source for life at Hülchrath Castle towards the end of the 19th century and for the von Pröpper family, as Ludovica processed numerous details and everyday experiences of life at Hülchrath Castle here.

She was not closed to innovations. This is how Lovica von Pröpper described in a letter to the company Dr. Oetker uses their baking powder as a "great relief". With this letter the company Dr. Oetker in 1916.
