Low Complexity Subband Codec

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Low Complexity Subband Codec ( SBC ) is an audio codec that was defined in the Bluetooth wireless standard and is mainly used there. SBC must be supported in the Bluetooth profile A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile).

SBC is a compressed lossy coding of audio signals similar to the MP3 format. The SBC is free of license fees as long as it is used for Bluetooth. In addition, coding in this format does not require any high computing power. SBC encoders usually use bit rates of up to 345 kBit / s with a sampling rate of 48 kHz.
