The Lubbock Renegades were an arena football team from Lubbock, Texas that played in af2 . The Renegades played their home games at the City Bank Coliseum .

history

The Renegades were founded in 2006 and began playing for the 2007 season in af2 .

In the first season three former, more or less successful NFL players, Joey Hawkins, Preston Hartfield and David Terrell, were signed. The first game was played on April 6, 2007 against the Amarillo Dusters and lost with 26:61. The playoffs were missed at the end of the season.

In the following season, the postseason was reached with nine wins and seven losses, but failed in the first round at the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings .

After the 2007 season, the Renegades were dissolved. The reason for this was the falling audience figures and a lack of buyers for the franchise. Lubbock seems to have a hard time keeping professional franchises in town in general. In the past, the Lubbock Cotton Kings in ice hockey, the Lubbock Gunslingers in indoor football and the Lubbock Crickets in baseball disbanded after only a few years.
