Lubomír Linhart
Lubomír Linhart (born June 28, 1906 in Prague , † June 10, 1980 ibid) was a Czechoslovak publicist, theoretician of photography, film historian, editor, translator and diplomat. In the interwar period he was a member of the avant-garde association Levá fronta .
Life
From 1924 to 1934 Linhart studied at the Czech Technical University in Prague (ČVUT), from 1926 he worked as a journalist and publicist in the communist magazines Reflektor and Tvorba. In 1931 and 1932 he visited the Soviet Union and took part in the II Conference of the International Union of Revolutionary Writers in 1930 in Kharkov. During this time he propagated Soviet filmography and also socialist realism . In the 1930s Linhart was active in the avant-garde association Levá fronta as a speaker and theorist for the group "Film-Foto".
During the war he took part in the illegal work of the Czechoslovak resistance . After 1945 he worked as a director of the Czechoslovak film company, later as a teacher. From 1948 to 1956 he was ambassador to Romania and the GDR.
