Lucera painter
The Lucera painter is an Apulian vase painter from the third quarter of the 4th century BC. Chr. Designated.
The Lucera painter got his emergency name due to several finds of vases assigned to him near the city of Lucera . The Dareios underworld workshop in which he worked is considered to be the manufactory that produced the highest quality works of red-figure Apulian vases of the corresponding time. He belongs to a group of artists in the workshop, which also includes the Truro Pelike painter and the Haifa painter , whose vases on the main page usually show young men, satyrs or eros in the company of a woman. In the case of larger vases, up to three young men can be shown. The Lucera painter was of supraregional importance, it seems that he had a lasting influence on the Apulising phase of Campanian vase painting through the ivy leaf painter and the APZ painter .
