Lucilius Junior
Lucilius Junior (* 6 AD probably in Campania ) was a Roman knight and the friend and correspondent of Seneca , who was about five or ten years his senior, in his Epistulae morales . Senecas Naturales quaestiones and his De providentia are dedicated to Lucilius.
Lucilius was of humble origin. Influential patrons (such as Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus Gaetulicus ) and his own talent and energy gave him the equestrial rank . First he did military service on the Rhine, in the Orient and in Africa and was procurator in Sicily around 63/64 .
He devoted himself to the study of philosophical problems, was active as a writer and wrote a poem about Etna . However, his authorship of the poem Aetna is unlikely.
