Lucius Iulius Frugi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lucius Iulius Frugi was a Roman politician living in the 2nd century AD .

Iulius Frugi was governor ( Legatus Augusti pro praetore ) in the province of Lycia et Pamphylia from 113/114 to 114/115 . By military diplomas , which are dated July 5, 115, among other things, is proven that he was 115 together with Publius Iuventius Celsus suffect consul ; the two held this office for four months, from May 1st to August 31st.

In earlier prosopographical research, the Iulius Frugi mentioned in inscriptions was mostly reconstructed as Tiberius Iulius Frugi (i.e. given the praenomen Tiberius ), and the governor and the consul were mistaken for two different people. However, new military diploma finds proved this likely to be wrong.
