Lucy Hughes-Hallett
Lucy Angela Hughes-Hallett (born December 7, 1951 in London ) is a British journalist and writer.
Life
Lucy Hughes-Hallett studied at Bedford College , University of London. She married Dan Franklin in 1984, they have two children and live in London. She worked as a journalist for Vogue magazine and as a television critic for the Evening Standard . She writes book reviews primarily for the Sunday Times .
Hughes-Hallett's first book Cleopatra : Histories, Dreams and Distortions was published in 1990. It won the Fawcett Prize and the Emily Toth Award. Her biography of the Italian artist and politician Gabriele D'Annunzio , published in 2013, received the Samuel Johnson Prize for non-fiction , the Duff Cooper Prize and the Costa Book Award .
Hughes-Hallett is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature .
