The Ludwig-Kessing-Park is a park in the Essen district of Überruhr-Hinsel . It opens up in its eastern part and connects the district with the Ruhr .

The park is one of the larger parks in the southeast of Essen. It is located near the towpath of the Ruhr and on the Ruhrhöhenweg , which is maintained by the Sauerland Mountain Association . The high park offers a view over the Ruhr valley.

The originally so-called Südost-Park was named in 1974 after the miner and local poet Ludwig Kessing (* 1869, † 1940), who was born in Überruhr . It improves the residential area of the Überruhr-Hinsel district and is integrated into the district culture through festivals. The association Geistige Elite eV , founded in 2004, took over the sponsorship of the playground on the grounds of the park in 2006.
