The Ludwig-Leichhardt-Museum is located in the Trebatsch part of Tauche , in the Oder-Spree district in the state of Brandenburg . The museum was opened in 1988 on the occasion of the 175th birthday of Ludwig Leichhardt (1813–1848) and expanded in 2008. It is run on a voluntary basis by the Ludwig Leichhardt e. V. , a registered association. There are four rooms in the small museum:

  • Leichhardt and event room
  • Replica of a classroom from Leichhardt's time
  • Exhibition room about historical trades from Leichhardt's time
  • Trebatsch room

The so-called Leichhardt Trail , a 54-kilometer bike tour through the Leichhardt-Land, begins at the museum .

Concepts to increase the attraction of the museum for the public with cross-local activities are discussed. The memory of Ludwig Leichhardt is to be preserved beyond the anniversary year 2013 and not to be forgotten.
